I am trying to understand how the coolant level sensor works. I have the blue sensor and it lives in a dry cavity at the bottom of the expansion tank It does not touch the coolant. A quick search tells me there is a magnet in the coolant float, and when the float gets too low it somehow triggers the sensor. Sounds ingenious!

Could someone explain it better? How would I test the sensor, can I just push the float down and see if I get a low coolant warning light?
